Pompei

Pompei is one of the most significant proofs of the Roman Empire. It was founded in the VIII century B.C. Later on it was destroyed by a violent Vesuvio eruption in the 79 A.D. Such cataclysm covered the town of ashes and lapilli. In the 16th Century Pompei was rediscovered, the outcome was an incredible treasure of arts, habits and crafts of that period which allowed the archeologists to piece together how the daily life was like during the Roman Empire’s age. Magnificent villas containing wonderful perfectly preserved paintings were brought to light, an amphitheater and more to demonstrate the prosperity of this ancient town. The tour includes a visit in the archeological excavations area, followed buy the a visit in a coral jewelry factory.

The production of “cameo” jewels will be shown and explained. The ancient art of cameo production is dated back of approx. 4000 years. Since they were first produced, cameos were meant to be jewelry for women. However, they were widely used as an ornament for vases and several different items. Since then, carved items were made, enriched with gems and semi-precious stones which properties made jewelry and objects look sober and classy. Such items could be considered to be small arts compositions.

During the Roman Empire this art was very much appreciated thus becoming more and more sophisticated. This is all witnessed by the archeological finds come to light during the excavation works in Ercolano and Pompei.


Departure to Pompei from your hotel by bus, minibus or by car to the discovery of the rests of the magnificent Roman Empire in 80 B.C. After the visit to the archeological excavations a visit to the Rosary Virgin Mary Sactuary will be held. The above Sactuary is a pilgrimage destination for pilgrims coming from the entire world.
